Matt and Suzanne

We truly appreciate you taking the time to consider our profile. We admire your courage in making this most difficult decision. After experiencing repeated losses trying to start a family of our own, we have come to realize that being a parent is an amazing gift. We will never take that opportunity for granted.

We have a very personal connection to adoption since Matt was adopted as an infant. He is grateful each and every day for his birth parents’ selfless decision and for his adoptive parents, who raised him in a loving home.

We are very fortunate to be surrounded by family and close friends who love us unconditionally and support our choice to adopt. We know that your child would be welcomed into our lives with open arms. He or she would be the first grandchild for Suzanne’s parents, which means lots of love and spoiling!

Thank you so much for your selfless decision to pursue an adoption plan for your child and for learning more about us.

Best wishes,

Suzanne & Matt

How We Became “Us”

Like many couples these days, we met through online dating. The first time we met in person, there was an instant connection. We were inseparable from that moment on. In addition to the initial chemistry, our relationship is built on a strong foundation of friendship. We truly are best friends. We have been through some great times and some very difficult ones that solidified our supportive relationship.

One of the things that brought us together is our love of animals.  Our dog, Sophie, is one of the most important “people” in our lives.  Matt adopted her from the SPCA when she was four years old.  He knew it was meant to be when Sophie licked him and put her paw on his arm.  When Suzanne came into the picture, Sophie captured her heart immediately.  We have no doubt that we were all meant to be a family.  We know that we will have the same feeling when we adopt a child.

Our biggest struggle as a couple has been having a family of our own. We have experienced repeated miscarriages, each one more devastating than the last. After the first loss, we went through a number of fertility treatments, including IVF. Sadly, all of our attempts ended in more loss. We reached a point where we could not put ourselves through anymore heartache. We decided adoption was the best path for us. We said from the beginning of this journey that we would have a family one way or another. Through adoption, we know that we will end up with the child we were meant to have.

We both come from families that placed a strong emphasis on education. Matt earned a Bachelor’s degree and Suzanne completed her Master’s degree. We would make sure that your child has every educational opportunity he or she needs in order to be successful. With 14 years of experience as a guidance counselor, Suzanne is very comfortable navigating the school system.

About Matt, by Suzanne

One of the things I love most about Matt is his positive outlook. After losing both of his parents in his 30’s, he says that life is too short to worry about the little things. He reminds me to enjoy life to the fullest and not take things too seriously. He is young at heart and often jokes that I relate to my teenage students so well because I live with him!

Matt is also very affectionate and romantic. He does thoughtful little things like bringing me a special dessert if I’ve had a rough day at work. Matt enjoys doing projects around the house, and he is very knowledgeable about home repairs. I love that he is always willing to lend a helping hand to our friends or my parents.

I have no doubt that Matt will be an amazing father. He is wonderful with our friends’ children.  He is like an uncle to his best friend’s two boys and makes it a priority to go to their baseball games. I can see him helping your child with their homework and attending all of their school and sporting events.

About Suzanne, by Matt

Suzanne has an amazing strength and innate sensitivity.  From the moment I saw her, she instantly made me feel like the most special guy in the world. I’m beyond grateful that I’m her husband. She has an uncanny ability to stay calm, keeping my feet on the ground during stressful times. No matter what life throws at me, feeling Suzanne’s hand on mine or a hug makes everything feel better. Remember the saying, “What would you do if no one was watching?” Suzanne wouldn’t do anything differently as she possesses both honesty and integrity.  Above all, it’s Suzanne’s high intellect and intelligence that I admire most.

Suzanne will be a wonderful mom because of her heart, love, kindness, and keen mind. I’ve never known anyone I’m more proud of than my wife, my best friend, and future mom to your child.

Our Wedding

We were married in July of 2013 at the home of Suzanne’s parents. They live in a beautiful old farmhouse, which was a perfect setting for the small, intimate wedding that we wanted. A local judge who is friends with Suzanne’s parents presided over the ceremony, which took place in the backyard overlooking a field. We were surrounded by our closest friends and family. We were also able to include our dog, Sophie, in our wedding photos.  We had an amazing day, and everyone had a great time laughing and dancing the night away. Our friends still talk about how much fun they had. Looking back, we would not have changed a single thing!

Our Home

We live in a quiet suburban community, which is close to local parks, playgrounds, shopping centers, schools, and churches. Our neighborhood has tennis and basketball courts within walking distance. It is a safe area, and there are plenty of other children at play.

We are about 45 minutes from Philadelphia by car, and we also have several train stations nearby. We try to visit the city as often as possible since it offers even more dining and cultural attractions.

Family and Friends

Although Matt’s parents are no longer with us, we are grateful to have a very close relationship with Suzanne’s parents. We get together with them and Suzanne’s younger brother for dinner almost every Sunday, as well as during the holidays.

We are fortunate to have an amazing network of friends. We go out to dinner with Matt’s childhood friend and his family on a regular basis. Suzanne’s friend Debby is also a constant in our lives. She frequently helps us take care of Sophie, and we have dinner and game night with Debby and her husband, Michael. Suzanne keeps in touch with a few childhood friends who we see every couple months, along with their families. The kids play together while the adults catch up and play games. Additionally, we both have a supportive group of co-workers who have become good friends. We know that we could rely on any of these friends to be by our side if we needed their help.

Sophie (our dog) is wonderful with children and would be your child’s biggest protector! She has taught us many lessons as she beat cancer and survived surgery to repair a disc in her neck. She is the strongest, most confident dog we have ever known, and we love her dearly.

Our favorite tradition is going to the Christmas concert at the Philadelphia Orchestra each year. Matt used to go with his father before he passed away. When we met, we decided it was important to continue in honor of Matt’s dad. We go downtown, have a nice dinner, and enjoy the sounds of the season. Suzanne says this is what makes it really feel like Christmas for her.

Matt’s childhood friend and his wife started going with us a few years ago. This past year, they brought their two boys along. It was great to see another generation join in this tradition. We look forward to bringing your child when he or she is old enough.

We love to travel and have already been on many fun adventures in the four years we have been together. We spent our honeymoon in Italy, visiting Venice, Florence, and Rome. It was an amazing trip and we have many wonderful memories. Recently, we spent a long weekend in Paris, France. We really enjoy experiencing new places, cultures, and food.

We go to Southwest Florida at least once a year since Suzanne’s parents have a vacation home there. Suzanne loves the beach – it’s her happy place. Over the years, we have also traveled to the Jersey Shore, New Orleans, Memphis, and Montreal. We can’t wait to take your child along on our next trip!
