Steps in the Adoption Process
If you are seriously considering adoption for your baby and ready to start an adoption plan, the process for birth mothers is fairly straightforward. Once you reach out to us by phone call or text, we will help you navigate the next steps.
Initial counseling and decision-making
You don’t have to be 100% certain about adoption when you contact us. Part of our guidance is to make sure you understand how it works to put your child up for adoption, your rights and responsibilities, and the different types of adoption available to you. When you’re ready to make your decision, we will be here to support you through what comes next.
Choosing an adoptive family
Haven Adoptions encourages birth mothers to choose the family for your child. Your preferences are an important consideration in finding the right fit. Every adoptive family presented to you has completed a home study and is fully eligible to adopt, so that the next steps can run smoothly for everyone.
Post-adoption communication and relationships
You will be matched with adoptive families who are open to whichever type of adoption relationship you wish to have. A closed adoption typically means that there will not be any further contact between you and the adoptive family. An open adoption can be very flexible, ranging from regular visits to simply exchanging letters and pictures.
