Meet Craig & Alyssa

Location: Delaware

Hello, we are Craig and Alyssa and we look forward to sharing our story with you. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us as prospective parents. Our home is one that is full of love, laughter, appreciation, and tradition.

We deeply desire to grow our family and feel blessed to be led to adoption. We look forward to adding a child to our family and sharing our love, happiness, traditions, and laughter.

More about Craig & Alyssa

We met in 2001 through a mutual friend and we were amazed by all of the similarities we shared. We’ve been married since 2005 and still share the same core values of love, respect, dedication, and a love of God. All of these traits have helped shape us as the couple we are today. From the beginning of our relationship, we have always worked to support each other.  We have always called our family “Team S” and have looked forward to growing our family and adding to the “team.”

Our journey to create a family has been a tough one. We endured many fertility treatments and waited seven years before our daughter, Olivia, was born. We also lost seven beautiful babies on our family building journey. Even though we have experienced much heartbreak, we are dedicated to our dream of expanding our family. We love being parents and Olivia will be an amazing big sister. Our sweet furbaby, Riggins, will also love being a big brother!

The words that come to mind when I think of Craig are fun-loving, devoted, caring, thoughtful, determined, and honest. We have been together for over 17 years and I fall in love with him more each day. As we mentioned earlier, our family is a team. Well, I have to say, Craig is definitely the best “teammate” around. He loves Olivia and I so much and will do anything to support us. He is an amazing husband and father!

Craig is a hard worker, who loves his career in project management.  That being said, he prioritizes his time so that he is always there for his family. He is a “big kid” at heart. I will often find him on the floor in Olivia’s playroom playing Barbies with her, coloring, pushing her on the swings, playing sharks and minnows in the pool; the list could go on and on. He just loves to spend time with us!

Craig’s energy is infectious. He always knows how to make us laugh. Whether it is family game night, a day at the park, spending time at the beach, or just hanging out at home – we know that Craig will always bring laughter and love into our lives.

I am truly blessed to have Alyssa as my wife. I can honestly say that she is my best friend. So many words come to mind when I try to describe Alyssa, a few are the following: thoughtful, caring, beautiful, supportive, faithful and fun. To sum it up she is the total package.

We often refer to our family as “Team S.” I can honestly say Alyssa is the glue that keeps our team together. We share the load as a family, but Alyssa is the light that guides us. She is irreplaceable.

One thing that stands out about Alyssa is just how great she is with kids. She has been a teacher now for over 20 years, and is beloved by her students. Currently, she is an elementary school librarian, and works with kids in grades K-5.

Not only is Alyssa beloved in the classroom, she’s beloved at home too. Nothing brings me more joy in life than to see the interaction between Alyssa and our daughter, Olivia, on a daily basis. The bond they share is like no other. Alyssa was born to be a mom. It is easy to see why Alyssa is Olivia’s role model and I know that any other child will feel the same way.

Olivia Grace is so much more than we could have ever imagined. She is kind, compassionate, thoughtful, and wise beyond her years. Olivia would love to be a big sister. In fact, she has been asking for several years when she will be one. We know that she will be a fabulous big sister, one who will take their little sibling under their wing, help them when needed, and boss them around for sure!

Olivia’s imagination is so fun to watch. We love to play with her and see where her adventures will lead us. She is an amazing friend who has lots of playdates with her friends and cousins.  She is the friend who looks to see who needs to be included, the one who makes all of her friends laugh, and is always ready to share. We are so proud of her and look forward to growing our family and watching the two siblings bond.

The story of Olivia’s birth is one of a miracle, and we often share with her how the doctors helped us conceive her. We look forward to explaining the wonderful story of adoption to another child, and can’t wait to find out all of the wonderful traits they will bring to our family.

We are so grateful to have two homes that are both full of love and laughter. The best part about living in Delaware is that you can literally drive the whole state in about an hour and a half. So, we have one home in the northern part of the state, and another down south.

Our home in Northern Delaware is incredible for many reasons. Our favorite aspect, however, is the large yard with a playground, fire pit, and deck. We spend lots of time outside, enjoying nature. We also love the community. Olivia’s elementary school (one of the top schools in the state) is at the front of our neighborhood and we love to walk up with our dog, Riggins, to pick her up. We also love our neighbors, who we consider to be good friends. Together, we help organize the yearly Easter egg hunt and back to school celebrations.

Our second home is a condo down by the beautiful beaches of Southern Delaware. Since Alyssa is a teacher and Craig’s job has some flexibility, we spend as much time as we can at the beach in the summer. Our condo is near a small town and we love to celebrate all of the traditions here, too! We enjoy endless beach days with friends and family, pool days, visit the ice cream shop, the 4th of July boat parade, Christmas light parade, and boardwalk visits. Most of all, we love the time we get to spend in both places as a family creating memories.

Traditions are a huge part of our family. One of our favorite quotes (by Cesare Pavese) is: “We do not remember the days, we remember the moments.” It speaks exactly to our family and how we build moments together that will last a lifetime.

We feel so lucky to have a wonderful support system of family and friends. Each of us has wonderful memories of growing up and spending time with our extended families. Both of us spent time with our grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins during holidays, beach trips, sleepovers, and family dinners. Based upon all the attention that our family gives Olivia and her cousins, we know that they are just as excited to be adding another member to our family.

Even though Olivia and her cousins are all under the age of seven, they will tell you that MomMom and PopPop are their first choice babysitter. We love spending time together with our extended family and feel so grateful that we live so close to each other.

Our friends are so close to us that we call them our “framily.” We love spending time with them and feel so lucky to have them in our lives. Our friends are so unbelievably excited for us and are big supporters of our family. We enjoy having dinner together and letting the kids play, beach days, boardwalk nights, and celebrating holidays together. We are also so grateful that we live so close to our friends and most of our friends’ kids go to or will go to the same school as Olivia. Our friends and “framily” are so important to us and we cannot wait to create even more memories with another family member.
