Hello, we are Craig and Bryan. We are excited to share a little bit about ourselves and our family. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us and consider us as prospective parents.
We feel blessed that we can provide a safe, nurturing environment and would like to expand our family by adopting another child. We love the idea of Connor having a brother or sister. We are a caring, loving, energetic, strong family that will focus on putting this child’s upbringing and education above all else.
We would love the opportunity to share more about ourselves and are eager to hear your story.
Hi, we are Craig and Bryan! When we first met, we quickly realized we had many things in common. We both grew up as one of three kids, each having a sister and a brother. Bryan has two nieces that he adores and Craig had just become an uncle for the first time. We both even went to the same college- though at different times and we both swam competitively. We love being outdoors-whether hiking, spending time at the beach, walking to our local farmer’s market, gardening, or skiing. After two years of dating, we got engaged and were married in 2015.
When we returned from our honeymoon traveling through Spain, we started the adoption process. Becoming parents had always been a dream of ours. Two years ago, we were given the most incredible gift when we were chosen by a birth mother to become the adoptive parents of our beautiful son, Connor. The day we saw and held our son in the hospital was the best day of both of our lives. Watching him learn and grow each day is a joy and something we want to experience with another child.
Bryan is the most hardworking person I know. Whether being a Dad to our son, in his career, or working in the yard, he gives it 100%. He is generous and kind and gives so much to others, never asking or expecting anything in return. Always willing to lend an ear, Bryan is the person who everyone goes to when they need advice. I’ve seen Bryan calm his nieces down when they are crying, help guide them through difficult situations, and be a role model for them.
After working for years with youth as a swim team coach, Bryan now works in the Oncology division of a Biotech company. Helping patients who have been diagnosed with cancer is his passion. Bryan is able to work from home most days and has a flexible schedule which means he can make his family the number one priority.
Athletic by nature, he has run a few marathons and competed in triathlons. His boundless energy has earned him the nickname “the Energizer bunny.” Bryan brings this same energy to his role as a father. I love seeing Bryan play with our son as they chase each other around the house, roaring like dinosaurs, kicking or throwing a ball outside, and making each other laugh. Bryan has a great sense of humor whether he is doing his superman impression or walking down the imaginary staircase behind the couch. Bryan loves to make people smile. He has an uncanny way of connecting with others and can talk with people like they are old friends.
How can you not love a “Bryan Hug?” They make everything right in the world at that moment. Connor and I are so lucky to have Bryan in our lives, and I know he will make an excellent father to another child.
Craig is 100% genuine and authentic. He taught me that relying on someone doesn’t have to mean giving up on my own strength or independence but rather, that we are stronger together. Craig has a great sense of humor and can always make me laugh. His easy-going personality helps me to keep things in perspective. Craig is spontaneous which helps provide a good balance to my structure and planning. I’m continually impressed by Craig’s intelligence. Watching Jeopardy with him is always amazing to me, as he normally answers more of the questions correctly than the contestants.
Craig is committed to his career as a nurse. He is extremely hard-working, passionate, selfless, and caring. Craig does whatever it takes to care for other people who are in need; he’s always going the extra mile. Most recently, Craig was recognized as an outstanding nurse and received the Daisy Award. He was nominated by patients, family members, other nurses, and physicians, who observed the extraordinary care that he provided. With his family, he is the same; kind, supportive, patient, and committed.
Craig lights up when he sees our son. They share a very special bond and are so happy and excited when they are around each other. Whenever they hear a song they like, you can bet that they will burst out into a dance party!
Whether it’s working out at the gym, a road trip, working outside in our yard, or cooking dinner together, Craig always adds fun and laughter to what we are doing. Everyone loves being around Craig, whether family, friend, patient, or someone that he has just met. To know him is truly to love him. He is the person that I always want beside me. We support each other and can face anything in life together.
Connor is a very kind, happy, affectionate, energetic, and curious little boy who is full of boundless energy. He loves playing with his cousins and friends and cannot wait to be a big brother. Connor hopes to have a sibling to play with, grow up with, explore with, learn from, and have to protect.
Connor loves to be outside and can most often be found kicking a soccer ball, throwing a football, riding a bike, picking vegetables from the garden and eating them, or exploring nature. Some of his favorite indoor activities include playing with dinosaurs, trains, building blocks, putting puzzles together, playing “Find me” (hide and seek), doing his signature dance, reading books, and singing lullaby songs with us before bed. Recently, he has loved singing baby shark T-Rex with Alexa. Connor enjoys playing with our sweet dog, Gunner, (who is always very gentle with our son and other children). A big fan of group hugs and cuddling, Connor has a huge heart. More than anything, he loves being around other children.
Connor loves to help his daddies. He especially loves to learn home improvement skills from Bryan (who learned from his dad)! Connor helps by vacuuming, gardening, and fixing things with his own child size tools. He can’t wait to keep learning more!
Connor’s favorite show is “Dinosaur Train” which features a preschool-aged T-Rex and his adoptive Pteranodon family.
We know that Connor will make this child feel so loved and welcomed into our family.
We bought our home in 2017 and moved to our vibrant, tight-knit neighborhood in order to live closer to Craig’s family. . All of Craig’s family members and a large group of our friends live within 15 minutes from us! Built in 1965, our house was charming but needed some TLC. We spent the last few years working hard to renovate the inside and outside of our house to make it warm, cozy, and inviting. We enjoy cooking and hosting large gatherings with family and friends. We spend a lot of time in our back yard and on our porch grilling and watching football games. When the weather is nice, we love spending time as a family planting vegetables, strawberries, herbs, and flowers.
Our home sits in a quiet suburban neighborhood on a two-acre lot. We love spending time with our son playing in our yard and exploring the arboretum just across the street. Our family-friendly community is close to many parks and hosts child-friendly events such as parades and educational programs all-year-round. The holidays are special in our town, with a Christmas tree lighting ceremony and a visit from Santa who reads stories to the children. It’s no wonder why there are so many families with young children in our neighborhood.
In addition to our small town activities, we also live close to Philly, so we feel like it is the best of both worlds. We love taking trips to the Children’s Museum, the Zoo, the Aquarium, or to Fairmount Park to see the horses in their stables. We look forward to when we can take our family to Eagles and Phillies games.
Our families are very supportive of us and are a big, loud, loving group of people that cannot wait to welcome another beautiful child into the family!
We are very close with both of our families and see them often. Connor loves spending time with all of his cousins, Mema & Poppy (Bryan’s parents), Shuggie (Craig’s mom), and all of his aunts and uncles. Bryan’s parents just celebrated their 47th anniversary together. Craig’s parents would have been married for 44 years, but Craig’s dad passed away a few years ago. We are looking forward to spending the rest of our lives together building a family just like our parents did.
This child already has a brother, seven cousins, and 16 second cousins to meet! Our nieces affectionately call us Uncle B and Uncle C. In addition to having wonderful families, we are lucky to have some incredible friends. Craig’s friends from childhood and Bryan’s friends from high school and college have lots of children and are like an extended family. Three of Bryan’s close friends have also adopted young children, so it will be nice for this child to have some friends that can provide positive reinforcement.
We also look up to Craig’s Nana and Pa who have happily been married for 64 years. They have taught us many things that we try to emulate in our relationship such as; always keeping family first, working hard, respecting each other, having fun, and not sweating the small stuff.
Our parents taught us to value family, faith, education, and being part of a team and we are passing these values down to our Connor.
We love to get outside as much as possible hiking along the Green Ribbon Trail or in Wissahickon Park, biking, hiking, and playing in the creek. Connor loves to feed the ducks and skip rocks in the river. Another one of our favorite places to visit as a family is the zoo. Connor’s favorite activity there is feeding the giraffes.
Spending time at our local swim and tennis club has provided us with a wonderful sense of community. It is a great place for children to swim, swing on hammocks, play tennis, basketball, volleyball, and play on the playground.
We believe that a meaningful life is more than just doing something to better yourself. It’s about doing something to better your community. We enjoy running in and supporting events for charities like the 9/11 Memorial Fund and Autism Speaks. Giving back to the community is very important to us. We also do volunteer work with the local community soup kitchen and Habitat for Humanity.
One of our biggest passions is traveling. We’ve been to Costa Rica, Greece, England, Spain, and Austria. We look forward to bringing another child with us on these adventures to learn about other cultures and traditions. Every winter, we rent a house in the Pocono mountains with Craig’s family so that the cousins can go sledding and skiing together. Next up on our travel itinerary are a few vacations to different national parks across the country. We hope the children enjoy the beauty of nature as much as we do. We also love the quality time that travel provides us to bond as a family.
Each season brings with it a different tradition that we remember from growing up with our families. We love keeping these traditions alive.
In the summer, we love to take trips to the beach where we rent a house each year with Craig’s family. All of the cousins enjoy building sandcastles, riding the waves on boogie boards, going on rides on the boardwalk, and getting ice cream together.
We also spend a few weekends each summer with Bryan’s family at his parents’ beach house including the Fourth of July where we watch the fireworks over the bay.
Fall means trips to different local farms for pumpkin and apple picking! We also love dressing up for Halloween with a family theme.
In the winter, we love celebrating the holidays and host Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve at our house. One of the things that we love doing together is decorating the Christmas tree together as a family. We’ve collected ornaments from all of our travels to remind us of the special memories. A miniature Christmas village was passed down from Bryan’s grandmother. As a result of Connor’s love for trains, we took him to a local store to pick out an electric train that now encircles the village. Connor loves pressing the button to make the whistle blow. There are some families that go all out decorating in our neighborhood that we love to visit. A nativity scene with live animals reminds us of the true meaning of Christmas. We take Connor with us to pick out toys to donate to “Toys for Tots,” so that he starts to understand the importance of giving to others.
We both have a strong faith and are spiritual. We would like to introduce religion to this child’s life through receiving sacraments. Our son was baptized in a beautiful ceremony, surrounded by lots of our family and friends. We would like to have this child baptized too.
Thank you very much for reading through our profile and learning more about our family. We understand that that is a challenging time and will be a difficult decision. We are choosing open adoption because we want to keep your story alive and part of your child’s life. We want you to have a place in your child’s life and stay connected with him or her. Whether that is through letters and picture updates or in-person meetings, we are excited to share milestones and successes with you throughout their life.
If chosen as adoptive parents, we commit to give your child everything we have to offer- unconditional love, support, a sense of security, encouragement, a healthy lifestyle, a great education, a large extended family, and a life filled with lots of laughter and happiness.
We hope that someday we will have the opportunity to meet and learn more about you. What ever level of openness you prefer, we will always remind him or her of the sacrifice that their mother made.
