Hi, we are Matthew and Karen!

We would like to thank you for considering adoption and for taking the time to learn more about our family. We know that the choice can’t be an easy one and are truly grateful for the opportunity to introduce you to our family. We have been happily married for seven years. We enjoy our time together more and more every day. We have been excited about adopting a child for a long time. We are ready to be parents and would love the opportunity to help a child grow and develop into an extraordinary human being. We both have nurturing, loving personalities who believe that a child will fill our home with even greater happiness than we already experience.

Again, thank you for taking the time to read more about us. We can’t possibly understand how difficult this must be for you, but we know how strong you must be. We sincerely appreciate your consideration!

More about Karen & Matthew (Matched)

Hello! We are Matthew, Karen, and Milo. We would like to thank you for considering adoption and for taking the time to learn more about us! We can only imagine how hard this choice must be. We are truly grateful for the opportunity to introduce you to our family.

We have been happily married since 2009. Our relationship is made stronger by the fact that we are so alike, but different enough to keep things balanced, surprising, and fun. As we grew closer together, we realized how much we desired to be parents. Having a child biologically was never important to us so we decided to pursue adoption. We adopted an amazing little boy named Milo in 2018 and now we can’t wait to grow our family even more!

Milo has truly been the greatest blessing in our lives. Everyone from great-grandparents to aunts and uncles have been incredibly active in Milo’s life, giving him constant love and affection. We can’t thank you enough for considering us!

Karen is a very independent, powerful, and beautiful woman who I love deeply. She is fiercely loyal to her friends and her family and equally kind and loving. Karen is driven to do her best and make others better around her. She has a gift of making everyone around her feel important and special. Karen is tenacious in life and wants to experience as many things as she can, especially traveling.

Karen is an excellent mother. She is a nurturing and caring individual who will empower Milo to go after what he wants in life and teach him to reach for the stars. I know Karen will do the same with Milo’s siblings. Karen will love them unconditionally and do everything in her power to provide every benefit and advantage in a child’s life. My love for Karen constantly grows, from her wit and beauty to her intelligence and sense of humor, I love spending time with her. Karen is the type of person that can relax and cuddle with you or hunker down and get work done. She has a playful sense of humor that always makes me laugh.

Milo has brought an unbelievable amount of joy to our lives! He has an amazing personality and keeps us moving all the time. Milo is a very curious and friendly boy. He loves spending time outside in our big yard, watching us working in the garden, playing with our dogs, or petting the neighbor’s horses. Milo has a great sense of humor and loves to talk even though he isn’t speaking yet! He is very social and likes playing with us and following us around the house while we’re doing chores or cooking.

Our families are obsessed with Milo, they all come over to spend time with him. We have very special bonds with our siblings, and we want to give that special bond to Milo and his siblings! Milo helped us realize how much we love being parents and how special adoption can be. We can’t imagine life without Milo. We love Milo more than we could have ever imagined. Milo made the wait of becoming parents worth it, and he is as excited as we are to welcome a new baby to the family!

We live in a comfortable home with an open floor plan that’s great for hosting family and friends. We spend a lot of time in our kitchen cooking or chatting in our breakfast nook. Our favorite part of our home is the living room. We have huge built-in bookshelves brimming with books and board games, and wall to wall sliding doors that provide a beautiful view of our backyard. We bought the house with the intention of growing our family, so it has lots of space for children to play.

Our house is in an agricultural area and is surrounded by fun things to do. We share a property line with a horse pasture and can hear the neighbor’s donkey every once in a while. There are a ton of parks and playgrounds nearby if we want to do something outside. We love to take day trips to Philadelphia or Baltimore to visit museums, try new restaurants, or see a show. We love our community because it has the perfect balance of the private and outdoorsy lifestyle (which brings us peace and culture) and entertainment that comes from living near larger cities.

We have large families who have been a constant source of support and love for us. Karen’s family lives about two hours away. However, she speaks to her mother and sister every day and sees them about every other weekend. Karen’s father comes up once a month for visits and we often travel to Maryland to have larger family dinners with aunts and uncles, and to visit Karen’s grandmother.

Matthew’s family is more local. We see his brother every week for a game night and spend as much time with his family as we can. Both sides of the family are thrilled to welcome a new baby. Our entire family has been involved in every aspect of our lives, and are truly obsessed with Milo. The grandparents do their best to spoil Milo with attention and are always ready with advice or a helping hand. Our siblings also help us get through the joys and trials of being parents. Karen’s sister is even considered a member of the “parenting team”! Our family makes it possible for us to have the best life possible and we are incredibly grateful for them.

  • Camping and Hiking – We go camping as much as we can. We love cooking over an open fire, having late night chats with our friends and family, and sleeping in our tent in the woods with our dogs.
  • Playing Board Games – We have a weekly board game night with Matthew’s brother and his wife. Karen is more competitive than Matthew, but both of us love getting around a table and having fun.
  • Reading – We bonded over our love of reading during our first date and hope to pass that love onto Milo.
  • Cooking – Both of us love to cook. Matthew makes the best fish and his soups are creative and delicious. Karen does most of the cooking and she loves to bake.
  • Festivals and Conventions – We love going to street fairs and conventions.
  • Traveling – Traveling is very important to us. We love to try new things and get out and see the world!
  • Listening to Podcasts – Karen introduced Matthew to podcasting and we have shared an interest in it ever since.

Our favorite family tradition is an annual vacation that Karen’s family has been taking for almost 35 years! We rent a few cabins in a state park (that is only a few hours away) and spend the week relaxing and enjoying nature. It is something Karen’s family looks forward to all year. The state park gets terrible cell phone reception, so the family has no choice but to spend time together; we love every minute of it! Everyone brings a stack of books to read and a pile of board games to play and we spend our days’ hiking, swimming, and canoeing. We brought Milo for the first time in 2018 and seeing him splash in the lake and crawl through the cabin the way Karen did when she was a baby was one of the most incredible experiences she has ever had. We will continue taking our family to on this vacation, and hope to keep the tradition going for another 35 years!
